A press article by Anastasia Stephens of the Daily Mail. This article shows you the type of fuel that is required for the body if you undertake certain types of sports and exercise. For example:
'You can't build muscle without protein, so if you want to increase muscular strength, you will need to eat foods such as meat, dairy, fish or pulses your pre-exercise meal,' says Tim Lawson of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Scientists and founder of sports consultancy Science In Sport.
Its true you can't build muscle without protein as protein is required to repair cells once they have been broken down through exercise. However, you have to be careful where you get your protein from. Diary and meat products may not be the best source due to the high saturated fat content in meat and diary products. Not only that meat production has now a big question mark over it due to hormone injections, antibiotics and suspect cattle feed being used on most animals.
News release from the Dail Express on the cancer risk of eating the traditional English fry up. It has long been suspected that frying meat that has been manufactured, and treated can lead to harmful toxins being released into the body causing cancers such as pancreatic and bowel cancer. I do not think that sausages and bacon are the only meats that might be causing this widespread problem of cancer and other related diseases. I am sure it will come to light of a number of other products which are damaging the nations health.
A press article on the benefits of exercise on cancer, loss of muscle and lymphedema. It has long been recognised the benefits of exercise for a myriad of diseases but for one reason or another there has been a reluctance to prescribe by health professionals.
An interesting article on the training and physical fitness of Ancient Greeks. The study looks at Greek oarsmen who had to row big wooden war ships and then fight a battle. Apparently their fitness was superior to many athletes who appear in the modern Olympics.
